Our Approach:

Our class is a two grade level classroom for students 3 to 5. We incorporate a combination of open exploration and individualized lessons tailored to the students’ needs. Play and socialization are incorporated into all aspects of our class to create a welcoming and engaging environment for all.

Our Staff:

Giselle Vera, our Lead Preschool Teacher, has taught in the North Riverside Preschool the past 5 years. She holds a degree in urban education from the University of Illinois Chicago, and grew up in North Riverside. Giselle is fluent in Spanish.

Peter Hanneman, the Youth Program Coordinator, has worked in youth recreation for 10 years and holds a Master’s degree in Recreation from the University of Illinois.

How to Register:

Please visit the Recreation Department at North Riverside Village Commons to register. First Month's payment is due at time of registration and serves as a non-refundable deposit. Summer packets and forms will be sent in July. Call (708) 442-5515 with any questions regarding the program.

Monthly Tuition and Attendance:

Monthly Tuition is paid over 10 months, August-May. First month’s tuition is due at time of registration and serves as a non-refundable deposit.

    • Half Day: $378- Resident     $405- Non Resident

    • Full Day: $655- Resident      $710- Non Resident

3-Day Schedule (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

    • Half Day: $225- Resident     $243- Non Resident

    • Full Day: $396- Resident     $432- Non Resident

Curriculum 

The North Riverside Recreation Preschool follows the curriculum goal from the National Association of the Education of Young Children. It encourages children to be actively involved in the process of learning, to experience a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and materials, and to pursue to their own interests in the context of life in the community and the world.

Lessons will include the foundations of core subjects including language, literacy, math, science, and the arts. This includes understanding the alphabet, writing skills, counting, number recognition, observation, pattern recognition, creative projects and performance.

Registration Requirements

  • Register in person at Village Commons.
  • Students must be 3 before September 1st, 2025.
  • Full day students must be 4 before September 1st, 2025.
  • Students must be independent bathroom users.
  • Full day students will not nap during school.
  • First month’s tuition is due at registration and serves as a non-refundable deposit.
  • Parents must submit certificate of child health examination and copy of birth certificate before October 1.
  • Parents are required to install “remind” app for parent-teacher communication.
